Restaurants and Food
Russ’ On Beacon
The Afendoulis’ love their pancakes and waffles, and do not miss their Strawberry Jam. This down-to-earth restaurant serves wonderful breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff are long-time residents of Grand Haven.
Pronto Pups
I have enjoyed these tiny corn dogs since I was a kid in the 60’s. Walking distance to DownTown. During Lunch hours, the line is down the street. Everyone visiting GH has to have a Pronto Pup when they come to Grand Haven.
Dairy Treat
The Grand Haven Dairy Treat's soft-serve ice cream is a staple, even though the original building's charm was lost in a remodel. The soft-serve remains unchanged and unique, and the shop is located across from Pronto Pups.
Fricano's
Growing up in Grand Haven, Fricano's has always been our family's go-to for thin-crust pizza. I always order the Fricano's Special, light on the anchovies, while my sons get pepperoni and cheese, and plain cheese.
Snug Harbor
I must admit, I have not tried them. But many of the guests at Yiayia’s swear by them. They say that their quality and price make an evening dinner at their establishment a wonderful event.
Butch's Burrito
Just 5 minute walk from Yiayia’s walking toward downtown. If you are looking for a quick meal they have some Mexican fast food for your enjoyment.
Tip-A-Few 10 Franklin St Downtown
As someone who grew up in Wyoming, MI, I've always loved the wet burritos from Beltline Bar. But a few years ago, I discovered that Tip-a-Few has an even better one, and it's now my favorite in Western Michigan.
Meijer
A name well established throughout Michigan. Yiayia Magdalene was employed at Meijer from her permanent move to Grand Haven at the Meijer location. When it closed, she transferred to the Muskegon location and worked as a greeter for 20 years.
